The Michele Brangwen Dance Ensemble presents year round performances of original choreography to new live music. Sharing the stage dangerously, our dancers and musicians set a challenging precedent for ensemble interaction. The Michele Brangwen Dance Ensemble has commissioned sixteen new music works for dance, and presented the works of two Houston choreographers, and seventeen living American and European composers ranging from classical to jazz to avant-garde jazz. Composers include Carol Morgan, Reynaldo Ochoa, Thomas Helton, Arthur Gottschalk, J. Todd Frazier, Rob Smith, Joe LoCascio, Woody Witt, John Edward Ross, Joan Tower, and Kaja Saaariaho. Their work has been performed in Houston at the Cullen Theater, Wortham Center; Hobby Center for the Performing Arts; Stude Concert Hall; Moores Opera House; Miller Outdoor Theater, Barnevelder Theater, and the Performing Arts Center at Houston at Community College Northwest. The Michele Brangwen Dance Ensemble has also performed at Lutkin Hall in Chicago and the Boy & Girls Club in Austin. Upcoming performances include the Alvin Ailey Citigroup Theatre in New York City in Fall 2008. Read commentary about our work on our WORD! page |
